The joy in teaching

It has been a wonderful teaching experience with Shlok.
I was initially taken aback at the standard and environment of education provided by the government. But it faded away after seeing the enthusiasm and eagerness shown by the students. When I started sight words, the kids kept on asking ‘teach us five more words, please’. And it is amazing how many new kannada words I have learnt from the kids.

It is sometimes amusing to see the kids repeating your actions , which you have used to explain with some seemingly difficult words. The two hours spent with the kids is quite a rewarding experience.

A few suggestions – If we can start teaching classes at lower grades, kids from lower levels will stand to gain from us. Also, if we can maintain a shared spreadsheet , each of us will know what was taught in the previous session, and we can maintain continuity.

Thanks,
Radhika
